HOME DEATH Coronavirus Scotland: Oil rig worker with suspected Covid-19 symptoms dies after leaving Elgin platform

An oil rig worker with suspected coronavirus symptoms has died at his home after being removed from the Scots platform.

The man worked on the North Sea rig near Elgin when he came down with the possible Covid-19 effects.

And he has since passed away after returning to his home in England.

The man is thought to have been airlifted off Total’s Elgin platform while working for contractor Stork.

The companies have confirmed the passing of the worker.

A Stork spokesperson said: “Sadly, we have been informed of the passing of one of our colleagues at home.

“Our deepest condolences and sympathies are with his family, friends and teammates.

“Our main focus now is to provide support to his family and our colleagues at Stork throughout these difficult times.”

A Total spokesperson said: “We have been informed of the sad death at home of one of our contractors.

“Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time.”
