Santos CFO resigns after one year amid corporate transition, M&A fallout

Santos Ltd. announced that Chief Financial Officer Sherry Duhe has resigned after just one year in the role, marking another leadership change for the Australian energy company as it continues to navigate strategic uncertainty following the collapse of a proposed $19 billion merger with a consortium led by Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (ADNOC).

Duhe, who joined Santos as CFO in October 2024, will be succeeded on an interim basis by her deputy, Lachlan Harris, the company said in a filing to the Australian Securities Exchange on Tuesday. Santos shares slipped as much as 0.4% in Sydney following the announcement before trading little changed.

Her departure comes at a pivotal time for Santos, which has been working to stabilize operations and restore investor confidence after merger discussions with ADNOC and its partners were terminated earlier this year. The proposed transaction would have created one of the largest independent energy companies in the Asia-Pacific region, combining ADNOC’s international gas and LNG portfolio with Santos’ assets in Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Timor-Leste.
