Integrity HSE Deploys Human Factors Specialists Offshore

Integrity HSE has taken another significant step forward in strengthening human and operational reliability within the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS), by deploying human factors specialists offshore to support a major oil and gas operator. The initiative is focused on error-proofing high-risk operational tasks, reinforcing the operator’s commitment to safe, consistent, and reliable performance across its assets.

This offshore engagement follows the successful delivery of a series of onshore training workshops by Integrity HSE, during which key personnel were trained in safety-critical task analysis, human error mechanisms, and practical strategies for error-proofing essential tasks. The positive impact of these sessions, and the strong feedback from participants, led the operator to extend Integrity HSE’s involvement into the field, where expert support can be applied directly within live operational environments.

Integrity HSE’s human factors specialists are now working side by side with offshore teams to observe task execution, identify vulnerability to human error, and co-develop practical interventions that reduce risk and strengthen task reliability. This includes improving task design, simplifying critical steps, enhancing situational awareness, and ensuring that barriers, prompts, and controls are aligned with real-world conditions.

With increasing industry focus on reducing human error and improving barrier effectiveness, Integrity HSE’s blend of training, analysis, and frontline operational support continues to set a new benchmark in people-centred risk management.
