Stream Marine Training Expands Offshore Portfolio with OPITO Approval for ERRV Advanced Medical Aid

GLASGOW, UK — Stream Marine Training (SMT), a global provider of maritime and offshore safety education, has officially received accreditation from OPITO to deliver the ERRV Crew Advanced Medical Aid and Further Advanced Medical Aid training standards.

This certification marks the 14th OPITO-approved course in SMT’s portfolio, specifically designed to support the Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV) sector. The program focuses on the rigorous training and assessment required for personnel designated as Advanced Medical Aiders, ensuring they possess the clinical competence to manage complex medical emergencies in high-risk, remote offshore environments.

The addition of this standard addresses a critical logistical need within the industry. By expanding its scope, SMT aims to provide ERRV operators with greater flexibility in maintaining crew compliance amidst challenging rotation schedules and operational demands.

“This approval is a result of our commitment to better servicing the ERRV industry,” said David Mulholland, Training Centre Manager at Stream Marine Training. “We recognise the difficulties operators face in keeping crews compliant with Advanced Medical Aid certification. Providing accessible, high-quality training is essential for both regulatory compliance and the overall operational readiness of the fleet.”

The new accreditation rounds out SMT’s comprehensive suite of OPITO-approved ERRV training, which now includes:

  • ERRV Crew Initial Training – Shipboard Operations (ITSO)
  • ERRV Crew Advanced Medical Aid (Initial and Further)
  • ERRV Fast Rescue Craft (FRC) Coxswain
  • ERRV Fast Rescue Craft (FRC) Boatman

This milestone follows a period of sustained growth for SMT across the Marine, Offshore, and Renewable energy sectors. In addition to ERRV-specific courses, the centre continues to provide core safety training including BOSIET with CA-EBS, MIST, and Offshore Emergency Response Team (OERTM/L) programs.
