In 2026, ModuSpec celebrates a major milestone – 40 years of raising the bar in upstream inspection services. Since launching in 1986, ModuSpec has helped shape how offshore assets are inspected, assured and managed across the global energy industry.
Back in 1986, ModuSpec was founded with a simple but ambitious vision – to offer independent, specialist offshore inspection services at a time when this kind of expertise did not formally exist as a standalone discipline. This pioneering approach was a first in the industry and helped change expectations around offshore safety, quality and technical assurance.
From the very beginning, ModuSpec set out to not only meet industry standards, but to elevate them through strong technical capability and by transforming the way inspections were planned, delivered and reported.
Back then, offshore inspections looked very different. Surveyors worked on paper-based checklists, handwritten reports and manual data entry. Reports could take weeks to pull together and share. Over the next four decades, ModuSpec grew alongside, and often ahead of, technological change. ModuSpec continuously invested in digital tools, data management systems and innovative inspection technologies that have transformed how inspection data is captured, analysed and communicated.
