2019 Sees Permian Oil Employ 87,000 People

 

Total oil production in the Permian basin surpassed 1.5 billion barrels of oil in the 2019 and the total amount of oil production increased by 1.2 billion barrels in the region over the last decade (2009-2019).

According to a report from the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO), The total number of people employed through direct oil and natural gas in the Permian basin reached 87,603 last year, in 2019.

This figure represented an increase of close to 43,000 jobs in the largest Permian basin counties within oil and natural gas employment, between 2009 and 2019. This included, Midland, Ector, Lea, Eddy and Hockley.

The report from TIPRO stated that the upstream sector continued to be the industry with the highest employment rates for oil and gas in the Permian basin throughout 2019. According to the report, oil and gas operations backed 54,507 positions, crude petroleum and natural gas extraction supported another 16,572 jobs and drilling oil and gas wells advocated 6,554 jobs.

Over fifty percent of the age demographic for the Permian basin oil and gas workers were aged 25 to 44.

The report also showed that throughout 2019, Permian companies employed over 12,560 women, with 48 percent of all oil and gas jobs being held by Hispanic and Latino workers.

The complete number of oil and gas businesses in the Permian basin topped 3,350 last year, 2019, with the greatest number of oil and gas businesses located in Midland County.

There is plans set in place, announced by TIPRO that the Permian basin oil and gas industry will endorse over 93,000 jobs throughout this year, 2020.
