Aberdeen STEM talent to meet leading employers at AFBE-UK Career Roadshow

Students and early career professionals will have direct access to some of the UK’s leading organisations when AFBE-UK brings its Career Roadshow to Aberdeen.

Taking place on Wednesday, March 4 (2026), the event is designed to connect emerging talent with employers who are actively engaging with the next generation of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) professionals.

Organisations confirmed to attend include Serica Energy, EnQuest, The Data Lab, Subsea7, Amentum and SLB, with further partners due to be announced in the coming weeks.

More than a traditional careers fair, the Roadshow focuses on practical insight – what employers look for, how recruitment decisions are made and which skills are in demand across evolving energy, technology and other markets.

Attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly with hiring managers and industry representatives about graduate schemes, internships and entry-level roles.

Lloyd Russell, event co-ordinator at social enterprise AFBE-UK Scotland, said: “There is strong appetite among employers to engage with diverse, capable talent. The Roadshow creates a space where those conversations happen face-to-face.

“For many students and graduates, understanding how to position themselves is half the challenge. This event provides clarity – what matters, what differentiates candidates and how to build momentum early in a career.”

AFBE-UK (Association for Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers UK) is a national not-for-profit organisation focused on increasing ethnic diversity within engineering and wider STEM industries. The social enterprise has held more than 100 events in Aberdeen.

Through roadshows, mentoring, outreach programmes and employer partnerships, AFBE-UK works to connect underrepresented talent with industry, support professional development and help organisations build more inclusive workforces. Its Scottish network plays an active role in engaging students, graduates and experienced professionals across the country’s energy, engineering and technology sectors.

The free event takes place from 12 to 4pm in the Craig Suite on the seventh floor of the Sir Duncan Rice Library at the University of Aberdeen.
