Aiken Group Announces Angus Move

Aberdeen-based Aiken Group has announced strategic growth into Angus which will help realise ongoing ambitions.

The company has bought Arbroath-based D&M Manufacturing & Welding for an undisclosed sum. As part of Aiken Group, the company will now be known as Aiken Fabrication and it is hoped that that move will create local jobs in the near future.

Aiken Group is a leading, locally-owned and innovative supplier of integrated, out-sourced and solutions-based engineering and specialist services principally accommodation; engineering, construction and modification and technology and project management. During its history stretching back more than 30 years, it has become well known for its expertise in offshore accommodation provision and has recently made significant inroads into key onshore sectors.

As well as being geographically significant to the company’s ongoing growth, the additional Arbroath premises will add 10,000 square feet of space and two 15-tonne cranes to Aiken Group’s capabilities.

Danny Donald, Managing Director of Aiken Group, said: “There are many good reasons for us to have a presence in Angus, not least the fact that this facility will work in synergy with the other parts of our business and position us in a location which we believe is important for the future vibrancy of our business.

“Our existing relationship with this business means we know the high quality of work which is produced here, and we look forward to offering this to existing clients as well as growing our foothold in other target sectors.”
