Ais training hosts chinese oil and gas visit to aberdeen

Leading industrial trainer, AIS, part of the 3T Energy Group, has hosted a visit to Aberdeen by oil and gas leaders from China.

16 senior personnel from the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) visited Aberdeen to learn from UK best practice in oil and gas well control, emergency response and health and safety legislation.

As part of the two-week long trip, AIS Training introduced the Chinese delegation to subject matter experts, Government agencies, drilling contractors and some of the UK’s leading oil and gas operators. Chinese officials also viewed some of the latest oil and gas technologies including specialist well control simulators developed by UK company, Drilling Systems, which are used throughout the world to train drilling personnel and improve competencies.

Paul Attrill, director of international business development at AIS Training, showed the delegation around. He said: “China is one of the world’s largest oil and gas producers and presents some enormous opportunities for the oil and gas industry here in Aberdeen and the wider UK.

“We were extremely honoured to host these important visitors and to showcase some of the UK’s leading oil and gas expertise. The visit was extremely successful with some excellent business relationships forged for the future.”

AIS Training is part of the 3T Energy Group. As well as AIS, 3T Energy Group includes the expertise of advanced simulator developer and manufacturer, Drilling Systems to bring a radically different approach towards training people for the energy sector worldwide. This approach, which is the first of its kind for the energy industry, will see technology such as simulators, e-learning, virtual reality and integrated software used alongside traditional training methods to enhance the skills, knowledge and performance of energy sector personnel.

Together Drilling Systems and AIS Training have an unrivalled product range and global reach with offices and distributors in all of the world’s key oil and gas hubs including Houston, Dubai, Jakarta, Canada, Vietnam and Australia amongst others.
