Petroleum safety authority Norway has given Aker BP consent to drill exploration well 6608/6-1 in production licence 762 in the Norwegian Sea.
The drilling location is around 100 kilometres north-east of the Skarv field and 170 kilometres south-west of Røstøyan.
Well 6608/6-1, named Vågar, has the following geographical coordinates: 66° 30′ 02.693″ N, 08° 56′ 19.294″ E, Water depth at the site is 288 metres.
Drilling of the well is scheduled to start in Q3 2019. The drilling operations are expected to last 27 days.
The well will be drilled by Deepsea Stavanger which is a semi-submersible mobile drilling facility of the GVA 7500 type, built in South Korea in 2010. It is owned and operated by Odfjell Drilling.
