The Pioneering Spirit vessel completed heavy-lift removals for the Valhall project, and the Solitaire vessel finished pipelaying work for the Yggdrasil development.
Allseas’ Pioneering Spirit vessel completed the final heavy-lift removals in late June for Aker BP for the original Valhall Field center in the southern Norwegian sector of the North Sea.
For the Original Valhall Development & Hod Decommissioning Project, the vessel removed the 9,500-mt PCP jacket and 5,000-mt Hod A platform.
Allseas’ team employed a specially designed “fishing rod” to hook conductor sections 28 m underwater using repurposed pipelay strakes; the goal was to achieve the single-lift execution in rough weather conditions.
Farther north, the company also just finished pipelay duties for the Aker BP-operated Yggdrasil development in the Norwegian North Sea, with the Solitaire vessel installing 122 km of offshore oil and gas export pipelines.
According to Allseas, the vessel performed the full scope on its own, from touchdown monitoring to tight “snake curves,” installing an in-line tee at the edge of the vessel’s tensioner geometric limits and laying more than 86,000 mt of steel and concrete on the seabed.
The Oceanic vessel provided support in the form of pipe supply logistics from shore, and Lorelay will perform as-laid survey scopes later this summer.
