Ann McRobb Associates Sponsor Young Pro Golfer

We are delighted to announce that we are playing our part in supporting the next generation of Scotland’s top golfers by sponsoring an aspiring young golf player, Jack Chalmers.

Jack, who is currently an assistant professional at the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre where he has played for the past five years, is set qualify with a DipHE in Professional Golf next year.

Jack is currently in his second year of the 3-year part-time Diploma in Higher Education which is aimed at PGA trainees working full-time at golf facilities across Scotland. The qualification is unique in Scotland and is a result of a partnership between the University of the Highlands and Islands and The Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA). Upon graduation, students are granted full membership into The PGA.

The DipHE incorporates themes relevant to the varied demands of the golf industry and focuses on issues faced by professional golfers and coaches. These include individual and group coaching, equipment technology, sports science and a business focus. The work-based component of the programme is key as it allows students to apply their learning to their individual employment circumstances, as well as providing access to a PGA qualified employer who can further support their learning.

As part of his studies, Jack is required to enter a minimum of seven tournaments during the year which take place throughout Scotland.

Gary McRobb, our Operations Director says:

“We are proud to support Jack in his journey towards gaining a professional golfing qualification recognised by The PGA. He is a talented and committed young individual and we are more than happy to give our backing to this thoroughly worthwhile initiative to support the next generation of Scottish pro golfers.”

The DipHE in Professional Golf coincides with a new campaign recently launched by the PGA to recruit the next generation of professionals. The PGA launched the campaign #PGADraft 2020 in response to its members requests for more trainees to fill gaps in the workforce by inspiring anyone considering a career in golf to join the ranks of the well-respected association.

The recruitment campaign aims to shine a light on the range of career options available within the sport of golf.

Commenting on landing the sponsorship deal with Ann McRobb Associates, Jack said he was excited to continue with his studies to gain a globally recognised qualification in a sport he is so passionate about:

“Golf is a global sport and it has always been a huge part of my life. To be able to incorporate golf into my professional life is an amazing feeling and to hold a PGA recognised qualification is a significant benchmark of golfing expertise for prospective employers.

To have the backing of a local company such as Ann McRobb Associates is a fantastic boost and it’s given me a real push to keep going with my training and to look forward to maybe even representing Scotland on the fairway one day.”

Good Luck Jack, you have the full support of the Ann McRobb Associates team along the way!
