Bumi Armada adopts artificial intelligence technology to reduce operational emissions

International offshore energy facilities and services provider Bumi Armada have partnered with leading provider of digital solutions, OPEX (an ERM Group Company), to drive down carbon emissions on its Armada Kraken FPSO facility, which serves the EnQuest-operated Kraken Field located in the northern North Sea.

Bumi Armada will deploy OPEX Group’s emissions.AI software to deliver real-time emissions data, insights and intelligence, identifying key opportunities to reduce emissions from the facility. The technology will not only identify where the opportunities are, but also support with implementing solutions and cost saving strategies.

David Clark, SVP of Operations from Bumi Armada said “While we have already successfully achieved continued emissions reduction, we are dedicated to evolving our operations globally to ensure we integrate sustainability into daily operations. Adopting this technology is a big step towards utilising the power of data to better understand how our plant is being operated and where there are opportunities for improvement across our projects and operations.”

Gary Leong, VP HSE from Bumi Armada added “Delivering best practice operational emissions management through the deployment of emissions.AI in the UKCS will allow us to expand our capability in predictive analysis and unlock further opportunities on emissions reduction across our global portfolio.”

John Telford, Asset Operations Manager from EnQuest said “We’re committed to working closely with our partners to deliver against our corporate emissions reduction targets. Deploying emissions.AI on the Armada Kraken FPSO aligns with these ambitions.”

Chris Ayres, Chief Customer Officer at OPEX Group added, “We are excited to have the opportunity to support Bumi Armada in its journey towards net zero emissions. Our emissions.AI technology uses intelligence and data to contextualise operational emissions and identify hidden operational inefficiencies, improvements and opportunities to lower emissions and costs.”
