Calling notice: Report to set out challenges of struggling industry

The leading representative body for the UK oil and gas industry, OGUK, will publish its outlook for the UK's offshore oil and gas industry following a difficult year which saw oil prices fall and the sector navigate the operational impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.

The free-to-attend webinar takes place on March 16 and will launch OGUK’s flagship 2021 Business Outlook Report, sponsored by Deloitte. It will be followed by a live panel session with industry experts to discuss the report’s findings.

OGUK Market Intelligence Manager Ross Dornan said:

“The report will set out OGUK’s expectations for the future industry landscape, including activity levels, expenditure, the position of the supply chain and how the industry is continuing to evolve in line with its commitment to deliver net-zero emissions.

“Attendees will be provided with an in-depth look at the sentiment of industry, its aspirations, and goals as the Conference of the Parties 26 (COP26) in Glasgow draws closer, with the sector continuing to work with the UK government to deliver a transformational North Sea Transition Deal.”

Graham Hollis, Senior Office Partner for Deloitte in Aberdeen said: “Despite the significant challenges the sector has faced over the last year because of COVID-19 and the downturn in oil price, there are opportunities emerging across the energy landscape as firms look towards recovery.

“This session will provide a valuable chance to explore this further and identify how oil and gas companies can bolster their operations through investment and transformative strategies as the world navigates recession as well as the lingering impact of the pandemic.”

It will be the first in a series of Business Outlook reports to be released throughout 2021, with each focusing on a different aspect of industry.

The event will be chaired by Deirdre Michie OBE, Chief Executive of OGUK.

Speakers and panellists include:

  • Ross Dornan, Market Intelligence Manager, OGUK
  • Scott McGinigal, Vice President, Business Services, CNOOC
  • Graham Hollis, Office Senior Partner, Aberdeen, Deloitte
  • Tim Cornelius, CEO, Global Energy Group
  • Gillian King, Vice President – Europe, Russia / CIS & Sub-Sahara Africa, Tendeka
