CHC Helikopter wins North Sea contract extension
CHC Helicopter’s Norwegian division, CHC Helikopter Service, has won a new contract with Harbour Energy for operations in the Norwegian North Sea. The award follows Harbour Energy’s recent acquisition of Wintershall Dea’s upstream assets.
Due to start this month, the contract spans 17 months with the option for a one-year extension. CHC Helikopter Service will provide crew change and transportation services for several drilling campaigns in Norway. The missions will be flown by CHC’s Sikorsky S-92 aircraft.
Helge Aase Nesvåg, senior commercial director EMEA-E at CHC said: “Harbour Energy’s decision to extend our partnership highlights their trust in CHC’s ability to deliver superior, safe, and reliable crew transportation services in some of the industry’s most demanding conditions.”
At the end of August the operator signed a new contract with oil and gas operator DNO extending its support for operations in the North Sea. CHC Helicopter will provide crew change and transportation services for two key rigs: the Noble Invincible and the Deepsea Yantai.
CHC Helicopter supports the energy sector with clients including: Aker BP, Equinor, and OKEA. Plus, the company is expanding its life-saving search and rescue (SAR) and helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS) missions globally, it claims.
Meanwhile, Harbour Energy’s acquisition of Wintershall Dea’s asset portfolio was financed through the issuance of equity with an agreed value of $4.15bn, the transfer of about $4.9bn of euro denominated Wintershall Dea bonds comprising investment grade and hybrid bonds and cash consideration of $2.15bn.
Completion of the acquisition, revealed last month, makes Harbour one of the world’s largest and most geographically diverse independent oil and gas companies. The company is now producing about 475,000 barrels of oil equivalent (BoE) per day with significant production in Norway, the UK, Argentina, North Africa and Germany.
