Aberdeen, UK, 2ND October 2025 – COMET has officially kicked off its UK Port Tour 2025 with successful visits to the Ports of Peterhead, Blyth, Liverpool and the Humber during September 2025. The nationwide programme is working with ports and airports to paint a collective picture of what builds a great safety culture and reduces incidents, sharing practical insights and building collaboration along the way.
At each Port, COMET’s CEO, Mark Rushton was welcomed with openness and energy, reflecting the UK Port Industry’s commitment to innovation and continuous improvement. The tour now continues around the UK, engaging directly with operators of both marine and airports to highlight best practice and bring a light to ongoing challenges that collaboration may fix.
Each stop includes a Port Tour, and a deep dive into what’s working well, capturing standout examples and focussing on why. Similarly investigative focus is used to analyse priority focus areas where improvement can still be realised, anchored by the host team receiving a cumulative insights report and masterclass of their choice for their respective teams.
Beyond individual visits, COMET will produce a UK-wide report so each contributor benefits from shared learning. The company is collaborating with Port Skills and Safety and Airports UK to ensure lessons flow across both the maritime and aviation port sectors.
A free initiative for the sector
Participation is free for ports and airports. Each stop will be shared on COMET’s social channels. An interactive map will reveal upcoming destinations as the tour progresses.
Mark Rushton, CEO of COMET, said
“Ports are complex, high-risk environments. The work is vital for the public and trade alike, the pressure is constant, and the consequences of failure can be severe. At COMET, we saw the value that shared insights from across the sector could bring. We all want to reduce incidents, build greater resilience, and strengthen safety culture. This tour is a great opportunity to create a collective snapshot of where we stand, where the challenges lie, and where ports across the UK are leading the way. Our early visits in September showed just how powerful this collaboration can be, and we look forward to building on that momentum as we travel across the UK.”
The COMET Port Tour 2025 continues over the coming weeks, with further stops announced via COMET’s social media channels.
