Decommissioning plans submitted for North Sea gas field by Ithaca
Plans for the Anglia field in the North Sea have been submitted by Ithaca Energy.
Anglia A is an unmanned station in the Southern North Sea, it lies just over 30 miles off the coast of Cromer, Norfolk. Production on the installation was stopped in late 2015.
Ithaca Energy has proposed the removal of topsides and jackets to the UK government. The proposal suggests a weight of over 1900 tonnes of materials to be taken back onshore and recycled.
The operator is planned to plug and cancel the subsea wells using a drill rig. Pipelines will remain in place while this operation is carried out.
The near-by installation, the Anglia-B, just a short 3-miles away from Anglia-A will be completely removed as well.
If the plans proposed by Ithaca Energy are approved, the firm intends to carry out the majority of the work in decommissioning by 2025.
Just last month, in November 2019, Ithaca Energy completed a £1.6 billion deal to obtain stakes in up to 10 producing fields from Chevron, expanding its UK presence in the North Sea.
