Al-Wasl-4 well at the North Safa is producing 2,250 barrels of oil and 1.3 million cubic feet of gas daily

Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has announced that production has begun from a new development well at the North Safa field in the Gulf of Suez, under the management of Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company (GUPCO).

According to a statement from the ministry, the Al-Wasl-4 well has begun producing around 2,250 barrels of crude oil and approximately 1.3 million cubic feet of gas each day, which raises the company’s total output to about 65,000 barrels of crude oil daily.

The ministry further emphasized that Al-Wasl-4 is a key element of the company’s 2026 development plan.

The North Safa field, noted as one of the key discoveries in the Gulf of Suez, started production in 2024 and is now experiencing further development. This includes the installation of an offshore production platform and a water-injection program across three wells aimed at increasing output and setting the stage for the second phase of field development.
Egypt secures $30 million for oil exploration in Gulf of Suez

In December 2025, Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources completed an agreement for oil exploration and production in the East Gemsa offshore area of the Gulf of Suez, which includes investments exceeding $30 million.

The agreement was established between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and the PICO Cheiron Group.

Furthermore, a grant of $1 million was allocated for the drilling of four new wells.
