EMEC launch TAP2G – the inaugural Trans-Atlantic Power to Gas Workshop

EMEC launch TAP2G – the inaugural Trans-Atlantic Power to Gas Workshop

The first ever Transatlantic Power to Gas (TAP2G) Workshop is due to be held during Aberdeen’s Hydrogen Festival on 3 – 4 October 2019.

TAP2G aims to bring together industry experts from across Europe and the USA to highlight areas of opportunity for transatlantic collaboration.

The event will be co-hosted by the EMEC Hydrogen and New York based Institute of Gas Innovation and Technology (I-GIT) at Stony Brook University and will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Aberdeen Treetops Hotel.

With four sessions across two days, the interactive TAP2G workshop will provide a platform for participants to draw on collective expertise and identify common areas of interest to move the industry forward with Power to Gas deployments.

TAP2G will address four critical areas for Power to Gas growth:

Market acceptance & readiness;
Technology & Scale-Up;
Systems Integration & Infrastructure;
Market Pull & Demand.

TAP2G includes multiple networking opportunities throughout the day, as well as an evening dinner on 3 October and an optional site visit on 4 October to the Kittybrewster Hydrogen Refuelling Station.

Jon Clipsham, Hydrogen Manager at EMEC, said:

“We’re excited to be partnering with Stony Brook to host the first TAP2G workshop during the Aberdeen Hydrogen Festival. Collaboration between Europe and the US is important to advance the Power to Gas sector globally. We are looking forward to a very successful event, which I am sure will enable many new relationships to be forged.”

Devinder Mahajan, Director at the Institute of Gas Innovation and Technology, said:

“I-GIT was set up to identify challenges that are cross-cutting and represent the future of transportation and electricity generation globally. The P2G concept poses key technical challenges for integration of three technologies (hydrogen production, transient storage and power production) to maintain high process efficiency. The TAP2G workshop, in partnership with EMEC, will target these key topics. I-GIT is excited to be part of this event.”

The TAP2G workshop forms part of the Aberdeen Hydrogen Festival (30 September – 4 October) with a number of events taking place over the course of the week including Aberdeen City Council’s hydrogen supply chain event and the annual SHFCA conference.
