EnerMech hires Global CIO for strategic technology leadership

EnerMech announces the appointment of Chetan Bhat as Global Chief Information Officer (CIO), a newly created role aimed at driving the company’s Business Systems and Digital strategy across the enterprise. Chetan will focus on optimising operations and enhancing customer experience through innovative technology solutions.

Chetan is a former Chief Information and Technology Officer (CIO) with more than 20 years’ IT leadership experience working for organisations in the energy, technology and manufacturing sectors. He most recently created and implemented a multi-year comprehensive IT strategy roadmap for oil and gas operator Maverick Natural Resources to improve their governance process for technology investments. This included advising the executive leadership team on company-wide IT needs, risks, and expenditure. His progressive career experience includes serving in senior IT leadership roles at Roper Technologies (ESCG), and various GE companies, including Oil & Gas, Security, Commercial Finance, and Aero Energy.

Chetan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from Bombay University, serves as a current board member of the Society of Information Management (SIM)-Houston, and is also an active member of the CIO Leadership Network and Project Management Institute.

In his new role at EnerMech, Chetan will report directly to EnerMech’s Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) Jose Xavier. His responsibilities will include overseeing IT governance, security, and risk management, ensuring regulatory compliance and implementing IT best practices across the organisation. Chetan will also lead digital transformation initiatives, manage the IT budget and oversee IT vendor relationships, aligning with EnerMech’s long-term goals.

Chetan succeeds John Clark, who served as interim IT Director and has been with EnerMech for 13 years. John will continue to support the company’s strategic initiatives in his new role as Transformation Director.

On starting his new post in Houston, Chetan said: “I am excited to join EnerMech at such a pivotal time. This is an incredible opportunity to shape and implement a forward-thinking IT strategy that leverages technology to drive innovation and create a competitive edge. I look forward to collaborating with the talented team at EnerMech to deliver valuable outcomes to clients and enhance the capabilities of our workforce.”

EnerMech CTO Jose Xavier said: “We are thrilled to welcome Chetan Bhat as our inaugural Global CIO. His extensive experience in shaping innovative IT strategies will be instrumental as we continue to grow and evolve. His leadership will help us to accelerate digital transformation, all while improving customer satisfaction across our global presence.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge John Clark’s contributions throughout his time as interim IT Director. We are confident that Chetan will build on with John’s work, driving our ongoing journey towards technological excellence and long-term success, positioning EnerMech at the forefront of our industry.”

EnerMech specialises in integrated solutions for complex projects around the world and has strategic bases across Europe, AMEC, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Americas to support the Energy industry.
