Wildcat to be drilled offshore East Kalimantan, Indonesia
Italian energy giant Eni has hit the market with a tender for a mobile offshore drilling rig, specifically a drillship, to drill an exploration well on its Ganal deepwater acreage offshore East Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Eni is investing billions of dollars in the region to exploit additional trillions of cubic feet of gas resources to complement its existing production from assets such as the Jangkrik and Merakes offshore fields.
The operator is prequalifying rig owners to supply a drillship to water depths of between 2000 and 2200 metres. The requirement is for a drillship equipped with a DP3 dynamic positioning to drill a single wildcat. The work scope will include, but not limited to drilling, re-entry, coring and completion and well testing.
