Eni SpA has signed a deal with state-owned QatarEnergy to work on the expansion of one of the world's biggest offshore liquefied natural gas fields, the company said Sunday.
The Italian oil-and-gas company will hold just over 3% in North Field East, a roughly $29 billion project that will expand Qatar's LNG capacity from 77 million tons per year to 110 million tons a year.
Eni joins French energy giant TotalEnergies SE as an investor in the project, which is expected to start production before the end of 2025.
