The Intervention & Coiled Tubing Association (ICoTA)’s European Chapter is currently seeking entries for the coveted ICoTA Innovation Award.
Celebrating excellence in the well intervention industry, the prize is awarded to a service company or Operator who has pushed the boundaries of well intervention and technology.
Judges will be looking for a technological application which can be either a new technology, or an existing technology used in an innovative way. Award entries must show a value to the industry in terms of reducing risk, increasing recovery, improving safety and/or minimising environmental impact.
The technology must have been applied for the first time since 31 st March 2017 and should have either been developed in Europe and applied in Europe or elsewhere for the first time, or developed elsewhere and applied for the first time in Europe.
Last year saw Well-SENSE win the prestigious prize with their FiberLine Intervention which significantly reduces the cost and risk of well surveillance. Previous winners have also included Altus Intervention, Shell and Helix Well Ops. Ian Retalic, ICoTA Europe Chair 2018/19, commented:
“The ICoTA Innovation Award is a very important initiative in support of ICoTA Europe’s mission, the aim of which is to improve communication and promote the value of well intervention solutions within the oil and gas industry.
“As often stated, new technology and its application is vital in the support and future health of the industry. As a result, we seek entries from companies or their sponsors, who are applying innovative design and a novel engineering approach in finding new ways of tackling the industry’s issues e.g. in sustaining, enhancing and increasing production or, integrity related topics.
“Over the years the Innovation Award process has provided an outlet, showcased a variety of technological ideas that have gone on to make a material difference in the industry and the judging panel this year, as always, are eager to identify the latest and best new ideas and technologies out there.
“Whether companies have shown us a first in terms of new technology or, how they’ve used an existing technology in a new way, the strategic thinking and originality shown by these companies over the years has been both staggering and inspirational and we are proud to reward them with the industry recognition they deserve.”
Entries for the ICoTA Innovation Award 2018 are now open and will close on Monday 24 September. The winner will be announced at the SPE ICoTA Well Intervention Conference at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre in November.
