FAST Technology Solutions is pleased to share the publication of an SPE paper, ‘First Deployments of Friction Adjustable Stabilizer Technology in the GCC’, in conjunction with the ADNOC group. The paper, presented at the 2022 ADIPEC, shares the drilling results from the first deployments of friction-adjustable stabiliser technology in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council).
The analysis focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of the deployment of FAST in addressing the challenges of drilling BHA dysfunction which impacted the drilling performance in Abu Dhabi Offshore. Noting the need to enhance drilling BHA to reduce vibration and improve borehole quality.
Friction Adjustable Stabiliser Technology (FAST) is the world’s first patented downhole stabiliser-reamer and drastically improves drilling performance. This is designed with patented features to minimize the upward motion of the BHA, by appropriately increasing the lateral friction between the BHA and the borehole wall. Ultimately, FAST diminishes the risk of BHA damage, ensuring reduced rig costs, and timely delivery of projects.
“We are delighted to have deployed the FAST Technology in the UAE as our first venture into the GCC. We have run three different sizes and will be trailing our First Non-Magnetic tool also,” said Gerry Ryan, Manager at FAST and co-author of the paper. Adding, “It has been a great experience working with ADNOC again and we look forward to continuing our expansion into other areas of the GCC.”
