ICR’s Quickflange™ Technology Awarded New Certifications from Lloyd’s Register and LRQA

Quickflange™, ICR’s weldless connector technology, has received new third-party certifications and endorsements from the LRQA and Lloyd’s Register (LR).

The successful completion of these certifications, which include a Pressure Equipment Directive (2014/68/EU) Conformity Assessment by LRQA (March 2025) and Type Approval from LR (June 2025), follows a rigorous programme of technology evaluation, testing, and third-party audits initiated in early 2024.

These approvals represent a significant milestone for Quickflange™, unlocking new growth opportunities in key markets. They also reinforce our commitment to validating our technology against internationally recognised standards and seeking external endorsements for our qualification processes.

Lloyd’s Register Type Approval

The Type Approval involved a design appraisal and manufacturing assessment undertaken by LR, ensuring that the product meets relevant industry standards and classifications. Quickflange™ had previously held two Type Approvals with Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).

The LR Type Approval provides the most extensive coverage of the Quickflange™ range to date:

Application: Marine / Offshore / Industrial

Standards: ASME B31.3 – Code for Process Piping

EMMUA 234 – 90/10 copper nickel alloy piping for offshore applications Specification

LR Rules and Regulations for the Classification of Ships

Ratings: Design Pressure: ANSI Class 150 to 1500

Nominal Size: 3/4 to 14-inch

Temperature Rating: Max. 205°C / Min. As per material standard.

With this new Type Approval secured, Quickflange™ can now be deployed on LR-classed vessels and on other marine, offshore, and industrial sites recognising LR certification.

LRQA Pressure Equipment Directive (2014/68/EU) Conformity Assessment

The Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) sets essential safety standards for pressure equipment used across the European Economic Area (EEA). While Quickflange™ is not individually assessed under the directive—as it does not form a pressure envelope on its own—the assembly must meet full compliance requirements.

We’re pleased to share that LRQA has completed a detailed Design Appraisal of Quickflange™, confirming that it meets the Essential Safety Requirements of the directive and aligns with the design rules of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.

Application: Assemblies requiring Pressure Equipment Directive (2014/68/EU) conformity

Standards: Pressure Equipment Directive (2014/68/EU)

ASME BPVC Section VIII Division 1: 2023

Ratings: Design Pressure: ANSI Class 150 to 1500

Nominal Size: 3/4 to 14-inch

Temperature Rating: Max. 205°C / Min. As per material standard.

This appraisal gives confidence to end users, system integrators, and installers that Quickflange™ can be seamlessly incorporated into CE-marked pressure assemblies, across all PED categories from category I to IV.

Danny Steel, Engineering Technical Authority – Quickflange™, commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to see our technology awarded certifications from both Lloyd’s Register and LRQA. This is a significant milestone for Quickflange™ and supports our strategic growth objectives across new markets and sectors.

“We extend our thanks to all members of the Quickflange™ team who contributed towards achieving these important approvals, and we look forward to the new opportunities these certifications will bring.”
