Insulcon Technical strengthens Aberdeen presence with new appointment

Leading technical insulation and passive fire protection (PFP) specialist, Insulcon Technical is strengthening its presence in Aberdeen with the appointment of an industry expert.

Alan Shand is joining the company as Business Development Manager based in Aberdeen. Alan will be responsible for supporting the company’s clients with all their technical insulation needs, as well as promoting the extensive product-range to new customers to further develop business.

A seasoned oil and gas professional with more than 35 years’ experience working for both contracting companies and major oil and gas operators predominantly within the fabric maintenance sector, Alan is well known in the Aberdeen market.

Having started out as an industrial spray painter for offshore services company, Rigblast in 1983, Alan steadily progressed holding several Project Engineer and Project Manager positions. He became Rigblast’s youngest ever site manager, overseeing a multi-disciplined fabric maintenance team of 200+ at the Scott Lithgow yard on a drilling rig conversion project. Alan went on to have senior management jobs at some of the oil and gas industry’s biggest names including Rigblast, Weatherford, CNOOC and Stork, where he enjoyed a range of roles including pipeline specialist, asset integrity engineer and director of business development.
