Katoni Engineering work with DYW to support Apprentice Scheme

Katoni Engineering has now formalised their plans to support the Developing Young Workforce (DYW) agenda through 2019/20. Last year saw the company welcome 5 students including one Career Ready placement from Keith Grammar School. In addition, the team at Katoni got involved in a number of initiatives including agreeing to mentor 4 pupils at Inverurie Academy. The company has DYW and sports coaching in the local area as their two community based priorities.

Looking to the year ahead the company wants to extend its efforts in this area as part of a plan to develop existing staff and play their part in helping develop the workforce of the future. James Bream, General Manager said “There are very few genuine reasons why companies, even small ones, cannot play their part in supporting schools and developing young people’s careers. We’re absolutely committed to doing our part at Katoni and believe it delivers real business benefits as well as being the right thing to do”.

To support efforts in 2019/20 Katoni is joining the Robert Gordon University Graduate Apprenticeship scheme. The company has signed a formal collaboration agreement to support the Graduate Level Apprenticeship programme. Through the year three members of staff will be supported at Katoni including one Graduate Apprentice within their Instrument team and two further trainees / graduates within Piping and Structural Disciplines. All of these trainees have previously been at Katoni on paid placements which is a key part of the journey for both parties. In addition the company will continue to contribute to ‘lifelong learning’ by funding more experienced staff with their formal education through the next year.

Katoni continues to provide multi-discipline (structural, piping, electrical, instrument & control and process engineering) brownfield modification engineering and design services to a broad range of operators in the UKCS. Katoni also has an office in Mexico and has been providing engineering advisory support in Ghana too. The company has recently signed a further Master Service Agreement with a global operator and will be announcing contract wins and news on new staff in the coming months.
