Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced a new oil discovery in the northwestern Ghadames Basin, marking another step forward in the country’s efforts to revitalize production and strengthen its upstream portfolio.

The find was made at the H1-NC4 well, operated by the Arabian Gulf Oil Company, a subsidiary of NOC. Preliminary tests indicate production capacity of approximately 4,675 barrels of oil per day and around two million cubic feet of natural gas, underscoring the basin’s ongoing potential for hydrocarbon development.

The project is fully owned by the NOC and forms part of its broader strategy to expand exploration and increase national output following years of underinvestment and instability. The company has made several recent discoveries aimed at bolstering Libya’s production capacity, including a significant oil and gas find in the Sirte Basin in partnership with Austria’s OMV.
