Medics Save Offshore Workers Life After Medical Emergency On Board Mariner Platform
The son of an offshore worker who suffered a heart attack while working on an offshore platform has praised medics after his father was airlifted to hospital yesterday.
Greg Law, an engineer living in Aberdeen, said last night that medical staff who airlifted his father Graeme from the Mariner platform in the east of Shetland “undoubtedly” saved his life.
Medical crews on both the Mariner platform and Shetland Coastguard were scrambled after the incident was reported at 2pm yesterday.
The Shetland Coastguard confirmed today that a man was medevaced before being transferred to Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick.
He was subsequently transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary last night onboard an air ambulance and is recovering in ARI’s Coronary Care Unit
Graeme who works onboard the Mariner platform as Lead HSE advisor for Aker Solutions posted on social media today that he is feeling much better and is being well looked after by the doctors and nurses at ARI.
