ModuSpec delivers 3 successful start-ups in 7 days

ModuSpec has completed the intake of three jack-up drilling rigs which have, in the last week, successfully started up and are on contract with their respective clients offshore the United Kingdom Continental Shelf and Egypt.

The rig starting in Egypt is a conventional design jack-up, undertaking a high impact exploration well for the client in Egypt. ModuSpec, a Vysus Group company, supported the operator over a six-month intake period to ensure that the equipment would meet the performance required for the milestone campaign. The ModuSpec team also verified the robustness of the drilling contractor’s health, safety, environmental and crew competency management systems prior to start-up.

In the UK, start-up was achieved for a heavy-duty cyber jack-up to undertake a period of development drilling. The intake focused on readiness of the equipment and compliance to operate in the UK North Sea, including the written scheme of verification and performance standards. In addition, a conventional design jack-up also started up after a shipyard period to achieve its five-yearly special periodic survey. The jack-up will undertake a long-term plug and abandonment campaign.

ModuSpec’s clients have praised the support delivered by the technical team during the intake projects, one client stating: “Thank you to all at ModuSpec for your work on the intake project. We were impressed with the quality and detail of your reports and subsequent explanations.”

Mark Watson, Operations Manager with ModuSpec, said: “Delivering three successful jack-up intake projects in seven days is a great achievement for the ModuSpec team. Each project had its own complexities and our technical team’s expertise was pivotal in meeting the clients’ exact requirements.

“In today’s market we are increasingly seeing our clients seeking customised support during the rig intake process and our team certainly provided that for these three projects. It’s great to receive positive feedback from our clients for a job well done.”
