Stena Drilling have announced the Stena Don is back drilling in the West of Shetland Islands for Total E&P UK
The recent upgrades took place in the Damen Shipyards in Rotterdam between October 2018 and March 2019.
The recent upgrades included the installation of an 8-point mooring system, increased variable deck load (VDL), as well as an increase in POB and lifeboat capacity.
These additions allow for operations using Dynamic Positioning (DP) or with anchors in water depths now ranging from 70 m to 650 m.
The Stena Don has been re-flagged to the British Flag, and is now registered in Aberdeen.
This new video highlights all the major upgrades whilst the unit was in CCB Shipyard in Bergen, Norway; undergoing final preparations for its current drilling campaign.
