New managing director appointed as GA Scotland targets further growth

A leading provider of integrated manufacturing solutions to the oil and gas industry has appointed a new managing director and added a number of staff to its Dundee operation.

GA Scotland, part of the private-equity backed Pryme Group, has bolstered its senior team with the appointment of Peter Donnelly as managing director.

With more than 35 years’ industry experience, Peter has also taken the reins at sister company, GA Sliding Head, similarly based at the West Pitkerro Industrial Estate.

Mr Donnelly was previously director of city firm Diemax Precision Engineering. The company’s order book was fulfilled until the end of June with five existing members of staff then transferring across to GA Scotland.

Founded in 1983, Diemax has been located at premises on Kingsway Park and provided CNC precision machining, milling and turning to clients in the aerospace and electronics industries throughout the UK and internationally.

Angus Gray, CEO at Pryme Group, commented: “I am pleased to welcome Peter and the rest of the Diemax Precision Engineering team to Pryme Group and look forward to them playing an important role in driving continued growth across our Tayside operations.

“Peter’s knowledge and expertise in working across diverse industry segments, including the aerospace sector, will be of particular benefit to the group and ensure we are well placed to capitalise on new and emerging opportunities across our target markets.”

Peter Donnelly added: “I am excited about what the future holds for myself and the team here at GA Scotland and GA Sliding Head as well as the benefits these increased resources can bring to our existing clients and suppliers.

“It has not been an easy decision but, ultimately, we reached the point at Diemax where the business required additional investment in order to remain competitive. Moreover, being part of the larger Pryme Group will bring genuine career progression opportunities to our employees, who can build upon their existing engineering skills and gain experience of working in other sectors, including oil and gas.”

Pryme Group offers a complete turnkey service for global contract manufacturing; combining high-quality machining with design capability, project management, precision machining, fabrication, coatings, hydraulic services, assembly and testing.
