Oceaneering Poised for Up to $90M Revenue Boost from Key ExxonMobil Angola Contract

Oceaneering International, the U.S. subsea engineering and applied technology firm, has secured a significant contract with an affiliate of U.S. energy major ExxonMobil for remotely operated vehicle (ROV) services and integrated solutions at an offshore block in Angola. This crucial agreement, awarded to Oceaneering Angola and Oceaneering Marine Technologies by Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Limited, is expected to generate between $80 million and $90 million in revenue over its three-year term.

Commencing on July 1, the contract’s comprehensive scope encompasses the provision of multiple work-class ROVs, advanced ROV tooling, intervention workover control systems (IWOCS), satellite communication systems, and a range of vital subsea services including inspection, hydrate remediation, and engineering support. These solutions will be deployed from Esso-supplied facilities, intervention vessels, and drilling rigs in the Angolan offshore sector.

The re-award of this contract, following a competitive bidding process, underscores Oceaneering’s established position and capabilities in the region. Martin McDonald, Subsea Robotics Senior Vice President at Oceaneering, emphasized the importance of this renewal, stating, “Securing this contract renewal with Esso, a key customer, through a competitive process reinforces our position as a trusted partner in Angola’s offshore energy sector. This award not only reflects our capabilities in country for subsea robotics and intervention services but also supports our continued growth in a strategically important region.”

This contract win comes on the heels of another significant development for ExxonMobil in Angola, as its Angolan subsidiary and consortium partners recently secured an extension of the production sharing contract (PSC) for Block 15 offshore Angola, extending the production period until 2037. This long-term commitment by ExxonMobil in the block creates a stable environment for key service providers like Oceaneering, solidifying their role in supporting ongoing and future offshore operations.
