ODE appoints Sandy Reid as managing director of its asset management services

Fully integrated independent operations and engineering services company ODE has appointed Sandy Reid as managing director of asset management.

Based in the Aberdeen office that opened in late 2019, Mr Reid will oversee the asset management division of the company as it increases its presence in the city following a series of contract wins worth £20 million.

Bringing almost 40 years’ industry experience, Mr Reid will head up ODE’s efforts to expand its UKCS footprint in the operations and maintenance market, while also growing its asset management business in the North Sea.

Mr Reid said: “I’m delighted to be joining ODE at a time when the UKCS is going through a period of energy transition. Maximising the value of production from late life assets in this transitional environment is a challenge for both the established UKCS operators and new entrants. ODE’s capability and experience in the offshore oil and gas and renewables markets enables us to offer seamless asset management services to support clients in meeting both their business and zero carbon goals.

“Our recent asset management contract awards in the North Sea demonstrates we have the capability in the eyes of operators and regulatory authorities to responsibly manage operations on behalf of clients as they focus on re-investing in fields and developing the infrastructure of their facilities.”

Mr Reid, who previously held senior roles with both oil and gas operating and service companies including most recently at Petrofac, will work closely with ODE’s deputy managing director Paul Chilvers, who led the restructuring of the company’s asset management division to enhance efficiency and client project delivery.

Mr Chilvers said: “We recognised the need to review the structure of our asset management division and Sandy’s appointment is a key milestone in this move. His recruitment, coupled with the opening of our Aberdeen office last year, is a positive move for us, which will benefit our clients.”

ODE, which opened its Aberdeen office in September, has been providing a range of services, including engineering and asset management to oil and gas and renewables companies around the world for more than 40 years. Mr Reid joins the company’s expert team, which provides effective asset management and brownfield engineering – leading to improved financial performance. Replicating this success will lead to 20 onshore jobs created in the near term, and further job creation in the future.

Peter Godfrey, ODE Group CEO, said: “I am extremely excited to be able to welcome Sandy to the group to strengthen and lead our team as we move into this exciting new development phase with ODE asset management.”
