OEG Renewables to expand Taiwan vessel fleet

OEG Energy Group Limited (“OEG”, the “Group”), a leading energy solutions business, is pleased to announce that its renewables division, OEG Renewables, has signed a contract with Strategic Marine for the order of a new build crew transfer vessel (CTV). The vessel will support OEG Renewables’ offshore operations in the Asia Pacific region.

The vessel, due to be named Wey Feng, is a BMT designed 27m aluminium catamaran and will be the fourth StratCat 27 vessel built by Strategic Marine to join the OEG Renewables fleet. The CTV is powered by two Caterpillar C32 1450hp marine engines and has a fuel capacity of 35,000 litres, seating for up to 24 technicians and the capability to safely transfer in 1.75m Hs.

The Wey Feng is due for delivery to Taiwan in February 2025, where it will support our ongoing projects in the region. The vessel name means power and prestige; majestic and awe-inspiring.

Michael James, General Manager for OEG Renewables’ Marine service line, commented: “We are delighted to welcome the Wey Feng to our growing fleet. The StratCat 27 has proven very successful on a number of projects in Taiwan already and this latest addition will bolster our regional operations.”

Eric Briar, Managing Director at OEG Renewables, added: “Our operations in the Asia Pacific region are expanding rapidly and we’re experiencing a high demand for our vessel provision services as a result. OEG Renewables supports the development of offshore wind projects throughout Japan, Taiwan and South Korea, utilising our experienced personnel and highly efficient fleet of vessels to successfully deliver a range of work scopes.”
