Offshore Achievement Awards 2019 Finalist Promotion - SMS Oilfield

OAA 2019 Finalist Promotion - SMS Oilfield

1.) Tell us why you entered your business into the OAAs.

I’ve been fortunate enough to attend the Offshore Achievement Awards event in previous years and had always been struck by the unique and engaging nature of the awards evening. It’s very much focused on alignment to the emerging challenges we face as an industry and recognising the contribution of all constituents whether on an individual basis, for SME’s, IOC’s or indeed our regulators who shape and guide the industry. With the awards being in their 33rd year it demonstrates the events relevance, its organisational resilience and that of our industry as a whole. This is very much in keeping with our own mindset, our belief systems and our resilience as an SME business in 2019. The awards and the timing “feel” like the right fit for SMS Oilfield.

2.) What does it mean to your team/business to be a finalist or if you were to win?

First and foremost, this is all about our team and their contribution to deliver client value. As finalists in the Export Achievement Award it’s really quite amazing how an Aberdeen based SME has made such an impact on the lives of our staff and clients along with the positive contribution to the economies we work in. However, it shouldn’t be a surprise really as our aim is to be a Scottish Business of International Acclaim – the Export Achievement Award is the right category for us! If we were to win it would be great, but every one of the finalists has a compelling export achievement story. We wholeheartedly wish Exceed and Blaze Manufacturing Solutions nothing but the best on the night!

3.) In your opinion, how do awards like these support your business and the industry in general?

Honestly, I think the Offshore Achievement Awards are a unique event in the Aberdeen calendar. I can think of no better example than the amalgam of our industrial engineering with the arts world through the collaboration with Gray’s School of Art for the event awards. The Offshore Achievement Awards have a deeper connection and thoughtfulness to the broader community we live and work in - it’s not just about an evening of celebration, there’s long term resonance and commitment to our industry and all those touched by its influence. As a local business - whether in Aberdeen, Abu Dhabi or Kuala Lumpur – we are minded in a similar manner; we’re committed to supporting our industry through exporting our innovative sensing and visualisation technologies, our commitment to skills development and undoubtedly our client’s success.

4.) What are you most looking forward to when you attend the OAAs on the night?

Good question! I’d say capturing the exuberance and talent of our young professionals, the sharing of stories and wisdom from our significant contributors and the atmosphere of togetherness in the hall…and of course the Export Achievement Award announcement…may the worthiest finalist win!
