Offshore solutions experts Laytrix welcomes Ken Mitchell on board as Business Development Consultant

Laytrix, the award-winning offshore solutions provider, has welcomed experienced business development consultant Ken Mitchell into the company.

Following a successful 2019, the Darlington-based company is looking to launch new products into the offshore oil and gas sector. Ken’s extensive global experience across the offshore, subsea, maritime and naval sectors has been identified as the ideal opportunity to continue the steady growth the company has experienced since it was founded by director Andy Stevenson in 2017.

Having already proven his ability to combine sector-specific research and identify opportunities for project development and collaboration, Ken said of his new role: “I am delighted to now be associated with Laytrix Ltd, and look forward to assisting them in the business development activities.”

“I see their equipment design as unique, innovative, economic and flexible. It can cater for installation, recovery and decommissioning of subsea pipelines, subsea cables and umbilicals. Undoubtedly, Laytrix’s design also offers significant operational cost savings across the board, which is paramount.”

“It is a challenge to launch new products into the offshore oil and gas sector in these uncertain times, but it is also very refreshing to see that there are still new-venture companies out there looking at various market sectors and spotting new opportunities. Decommissioning is obviously a hot topic right now, in light of continued pressure to combat and legislate for climate change, but I believe Laytrix’s products will play a significant role in the way forward.”

Evidently impressed by Ken’s background and experience, Laytrix director Andy Stevenson, added: “We are delighted to have someone of Ken’s experience working with our team. As we look to capitalise on the excellent progress we made last year with our award-winning system, and disrupt the pipelay and decommissioning markets, Ken will be integral to our work in reducing costs for operators in a safe and environmentally-friendly manner.”

One of Ken’s first appointments as Laytrx’s new business development consultant was to represent Laytrix at Subsea Expo in Aberdeen. The world’s leading subsea exhibition and conference, hosted by Subsea UK, is visited by more than 6,500 people from almost 60 countries around the world.
