The crew of Ofdjell Drilling’s Deepsea Aberdeen have experienced Facebook success after creating their own song whilst on a recent trip offshore.
James Henderson who is a roustabout, enlisted the help of his co-workers, Kenneth Scott, store keeper, Daz Migiani, ROV pilot and John Anderson, steward to write the song titled ‘Rig Life’.
Henderson from Aberdeen said, ‘The idea came to them when they were in St Magnus Bay and could see the coast of Shetland.’ This is reflected in the lyrics, which also highlights their time offshore.
The light-hearted anthem pokes fun at the everyday struggles of life on the rig, commenting on the food and poor wi-fi connection.
The video has already gained attraction on Facebook with 3.5 thousand views overnight.
Popularity grows as oil workers across Aberdeen can relate to the song.
After bringing their guitars offshore, the men have become a surprising social media sensation and found a new way to spend their downtime.
