READ Cased Hole signs exclusive agreement with Advanced Logic Technology
Production and integrity evaluation specialist, READ Cased Hole Ltd (READ) is delighted to announce it has signed an exclusive agreement with Advanced Logic Technology (ALT) to develop and bring to market ALT’s ABI-43 acoustic borehole imaging technology.
Over the coming months, READ will work in close partnership with Luxembourg-based ALT to rigorously test and characterise the ABI-43 tool, which will ultimately offer a new innovative and cost-effective solution for downhole casing and cement evaluation to the global oil and gas industry.
ALT originally pioneered the ABI-43 for the mining industry more than 25 years ago. The technology has successfully built up a solid reputation as an innovative and dependable solution for improved productivity and data integrity in a range of mining applications. Now, under READ’s direction, the ABI-43 is being diversified to oil and gas.
The ABI-43 is unique. With a tool body measuring just 43mm in diameter, it is the most compact tool of its kind for easy through tubing deployment in all well deviations, including horizontal. The tool’s applications will include cement evaluation, casing inspection, corrosion detection, internal casing damage detection, and casing thickness analysis. It will give customers an improved real-time picture of their casing and cement, so they can make informed decisions about their wells.
Roy Martin, CEO of READ said, “As ALT’s technology partner, we look forward to seeing the ABI-43 adding value to oilfield operations around the world. We are embarking on an exciting journey to fully understand the tool’s capabilities, the complete spectrum of well environments it will operate in, and our customers’ specific requirements and expectations from this developing technology.”
Jean-Luc Deltombe and Annick Henriette, Directors of ALT said, “With READ’s expertise in cased hole logging and data interpretation, and in-depth knowledge of the oil and gas industry, our technology is in exceptionally safe hands. We are confident that the ABI-43 will emerge as a fresh approach to acoustic borehole imaging for oilfield operators.”
