Saipem nets $135m in new Eni drilling contracts and extensions

Italian energy services major Saipem has secured new contract awards and extensions from compatriot Eni, worth approximately $135m.

The company’s 7th-generation drillship Santorini will continue working in Ghana and the Ivory Coast. This ensures the drillship’s continuity of activities ahead of the next drilling campaign in the Mediterranean Sea.

The previous extension for the 2021-built drillship was a two-year deal signed with Eni back in 2023.

The 2014-built Deep Value Driller drillship, managed by Saipem under a bareboat charter agreement, has completed its operations in Ghana on behalf of Eni Ghana Exploration & Production Limited and will be employed for a new project for Eni in Indonesia. Activities are expected to begin by the end of the year.

The 2011-built semisub Scarabeo 9 has recently completed a successful drilling campaign in Egypt for Burullus Gas.

It has now started operations in Libya under a new contract with Eni, which will keep the rig active until early 2026.
