ScottishPower launches new tariff with one of the lowest overnight charging rates for electric vehicle drivers

Off-peak charging deal to save customers money with 100% green electricity

Hot on the heels of World EV Day, green energy company ScottishPower has launched a new tariff dedicated to motorists who have made the switch to electric vehicles.  The new tariff has one of the most competitive overnight charging rates available for EV drivers.

The EV Saver tariff offers a cheaper deal for drivers who are charging at home overnight, with a low electricity rate of just 7.450p per kWh between midnight and 5am.

The EV market has witnessed non-stop growth this year as supply chain issues eased, driving up production and deliveries. According to industry body the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) a new battery electric car was sold every 60 seconds in the UK in July.

ScottishPower is leading the way in encouraging customers to make the switch, with the new tariff adding to an existing electric home charger package that comes with free AA support for 12 months.

The new EV Saver tariff means customers can now benefit from 100% green electricity charging their vehicle at a competitive rate, all while they’re asleep.

Andy Mouat, Head of Smart Mobility at ScottishPower, said: “Latest figures show that more than 20% of new cars sold in the UK are now all-electric and we’re here to help lead the electrification of transport by making the transition to EVs easier and more affordable.

“Our new, competitive charging tariff offers clean affordable energy for our EV-driving customers while supporting the UK’s decarbonisation journey.”

The new EV Saver Tariff is available to existing ScottishPower domestic customers who have a smart meter and opt to pay by Direct Debit, and for new domestic customers joining ScottishPower on its Standard Variable Tariff (SVT) who meet the same criteria.
