WINDHOEK, NAMIBIA – Shell is pleased to announce it is preparing to launch a new, significant drilling campaign in Petroleum Exploration Licence 39 (PEL39), offshore Namibia. The campaign is a joint effort with Shell’s partners, QatarEnergy and the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR). Drilling operations are set to commence in April 2026.
This launch marks an important milestone in Shell’s commitment to responsibly explore Namibia’s offshore potential and support the country’s growing energy ambitions.
Campaign Logistics and Partnership
To deliver the new campaign, Shell has awarded the contract for the Deepsea Mira drilling unit. The Deepsea Mira is operated by Odfjell Drilling and owned by Northern Ocean Ltd.
