Spotlight Shines on Future Leaders at Young Professional Green Energy Awards

Seven green energy stars honoured at last night’s (May 1) event in Glasgow

Scottish Renewables says ‘the passion and determination of the young professionals in our industry will help shape the future of clean power in this country’

Seven up-and-coming green energy stars were honoured last night (May 1) at the Young Professional Green Energy Awards 2025.

The annual awards, organised by Scottish Renewables, shine a spotlight on the pioneers of tomorrow who are ready to disrupt the status quo with their bold ideas and unstoppable ambition to reshape Scotland’s clean power future.

This year’s winners include Obey Suleyman, whose pioneering research on wind turbine components is advancing the sustainability of Scotland’s renewables sector, and Ellen Kane, of ScottishPower Renewables, who has been delivering STEM workshops in local schools as well as engaging with local communities.

Recognition also went to Megan Martin, of Tony Gee and Partners LLP, who picked up two awards for her work supporting the design of foundations for wind turbines and associated structures for wind farms.

The trio joined four others in receiving accolades at this year’s awards, which saw 300 renewable energy professionals come together at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow.

The winners were selected from a shortlist of 32.

Claire Mack, Chief Executive of Scottish Renewables, the trade body which organises the awards, said:

“Every year these awards remind me of the remarkable clean energy talent coming through in Scotland and it is always an absolute joy to see us come together as an industry to celebrate the dedication, innovation and leadership shown by the next generation of renewable energy professionals.

“The calibre of those shortlisted for the Young Professional Green Energy Awards continues to impress and this evening’s nominees have been no exception. The skill, professionalism, and commitment on display are a testament not only to the individuals recognised, but also to the strength and promise of our industry’s future.

“As we look to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, it is clear that the passion and determination of the young professionals in our industry will help shape the future of clean power in this country and beyond.

“It has been a privilege to see first-hand such outstanding talent on display and I offer my heartfelt congratulations to all those shortlisted and, of course, to those who have taken home an award tonight.”
