TechnipFMC handed contract for US supermajor’s gas development

Offshore player wins subsea deal for Chevron-operated Gorgon Stage 3 in Australia

TechnipFMC has won a subsea contract for the Chevron-operated Gorgon Stage 3 gas development in Australia, the offshore contractor said on Thursday.

Specifics were not revealed, but TechnipFMC said the contract’s value was between US$75 million and US$250 million.

TechnipFMC said in July that the Gorgon work would be valued between US$250 million and US$500 million.

The contract will be the first to use TechnipFMC’s seven-inch series of its Subsea 2.0 horizontal subsea trees, according to a company announcement.

In addition, TechnipFMC said it will provide flexible jumpers designed to increase production rates and provide flow assurance for gas applications.
Chevron and its partners approved a final investment decision for the US$2 billion Gorgon Stage 3 on 4 December.

It will connect the Geryon and Eurytion offshore gas fields in the Greater Gorgon Area to Gorgon’s subsea gas gathering infrastructure, and processing facilities and liquefied natural gas facilities on Barrow Island, off the coast of Western Australia.
