Technipfmc secures subsea installation contract from chevron

Project lifecycle services provider TechnipFMC has secured a subsea umbilicals installation contract from Chevron Australia for the development of the Gorgon Stage Two project. The project is located offshore Western Australia in water depths ranging from 250m to 1,340m. Under the contract, TechnipFMC will oversee project management and engineering, transportation, installation and pre-commissioning of umbilicals, flying leads and manifolds. The deal also covers fabrication, transportation, installation and testing operations of rigid spools. TechnipFMC will lead the offshore campaign using local capabilities, as well as its global pipelay fleet. TechnipFMC Subsea business president Hallvard Hasselknippe said: “We are pleased TechnipFMC has been selected for this significant contract. “We value our long-term, collaborative relationship and are committed to bring the best assets and our solid experience in project execution, fabrication, and installation to the field.” Currently operated by Chevron Australia, the Gorgon project is a joint venture (JV) between the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron, ExxonMobil, Shell, Osaka Gas, Tokyo Gas and JERA. Chevron is the majority holder in the JV with 46.3% followed by ExxonMobil and Shell with 25% each. Osaka Gas owns a 1.25% interest, while Tokyo Gas and JERA own 1% and 0.417% stake, respectively. Under Phase 2 development of the project, TechnipFMC will upgrade the existing subsea facilities to ensure production as well as maintain it for future gas supply. TechnipFMC specialises in subsea umbilicals installation, onshore and offshore projects and provides technologies and production systems to optimise the oil and gas resource operations.
