TotalEnergies declines extension for North Sea rig deal

TotalEnergies EP Denmark has notified Shelf Drilling that it intends to terminate a rig contract in the Danish North Sea this August.

TotalEnergies EP Denmark has notified Shelf Drilling that it intends to terminate a rig contract in the Danish North Sea this August.

The contract for the Shelf Drilling Winner had originally been due to end a year later, in August 2026, subject to the take-up of two further options to extend activity into late 2027.

However, TotalEnergies decided to release the rig this summer after it has completed its remaining scheduled well activities, because of changes in the 2025 work program.
