More than 80 students and graduates attended the latest Transition event organised by Aberdeen social enterprise AFBE-UK Scotland.
Energy industry professionals gave up their time to pass advice on how to make it in the energy sector.
The event at Robert Gordon University included talks from Lina Serpa, vice-president wells, North Sea for BP, and motivational speaker, Dr Tharaka Gunarathne – who graduated from the University of Aberdeen Medical School.
Previous events have helped more than 1,000 students prepare for the move from academic studies.
The day-long event featured activities geared at preparing undergraduate and postgraduate students, including mock interviews, assessments, CV reviews and networking experience.
Dr Ollie Folayan, chairman of AFBE-UK Scotland, said: “We’ve had extremely positive feedback about our latest Transition event. We would like to thank everyone who gave up their time to help the next generation gain an insight to what is required for the next step in their career.”
The next Transition event will take place on Saturday, March 2 (2019) at Herriot-Watt University – the first time AFBE-UK Scotland has held an event in Edinburgh.
AFBE-UK Scotland is a not-for-profit organisation that promotes diversity and inclusion. It encourages young people, particularly those of black and minority ethic (BME) origin, to consider a career in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. The Aberdeen group was established in 2011.
