Well delivery companies Senergy Wells, Stena Drilling and Halliburton continue to deliver for Energean offshore Israel

Senergy Wells, Stena Drilling and Halliburton have a long-standing relationship delivering well construction for Energean Israel Limited, a subsidiary of Energean. Drilling operations commenced Q1 2022 in the deepwater offshore Israel on the first well (Athena 01) in a multi-well campaign that has now been delivered safely, on time and under budget.

All three contractors were re-engaged by Energean after delivering a successful four-well deepwater drilling campaign in 2019/2020.

The companies have been working collaboratively as “One Team” to plan and execute Energean's 2022 deepwater exploration and development campaign on multiple licences, located 75 kilometres offshore Israel. The scope includes three firm wells, and two optional wells, drilled in 1400-1800 metres water depth to deliver the Energean objective of de-risking prospective resources of over 1 billion boe.

The wells are drilled using the Stena IceMAX drillship, an ice-class, harsh environment, dual-activity, dynamically positioned drillship, capable of drilling in water depths of up to 3,000 metres. Senergy Wells provides project management, engineering and operational supervision. Halliburton provides integrated services to deliver project management, directional drilling, drill bits, drilling fluids, cementing, solids control, wireline, slickline, completions, production enhancement, and subsea services.

Matt Rothnie, SVP Senergy Wells & ModuSpec, commented: “It is always pleasing to work with a client on multiple repeat projects, as it shows that our previous technical delivery model works, showing we are thought of as a trusted partner. Energean is a key client for us and we look forward to continuing this relationship with both Energean and our supply chain partners Stena and Halliburton during the remainder of this campaign and beyond.”

Martin White, Vice President Europe, Eurasia and Sub Sahara Africa Region, Halliburton, commented: “We are excited to once again deliver optimised well solutions, proving Halliburton is the execution company, working collaboratively to deliver safe wells. We look forward to executing the ongoing campaign with Energean to secure additional value for its Mediterranean assets.”

Chris Carbaugh, Chief Operations Officer, Stena Drilling, commented: “It is fantastic to have the Stena IceMAX back in the region; building upon the successful campaign of her sister vessel the Stena DrillMAX. Stena Drilling is proud to be a part of developing an indigenous energy industry for Israel, securing supply, enhancing competition and developing positive optionality.”

Simon French, Energean Well Delivery Manager, commented: “Energean is happy to welcome our trusted business partners back to Israel and we are very pleased with the successful delivery of the 1st well in our 2022 deepwater eastern Mediterranean drilling campaign. We’ve exceeded our target of delivering basin top quartile performance on this well and look forward to similar achievements on the remaining wells.”
