Wood signs subsea integration contract for offshore Australia project

Oilfield engineering service provider Wood has been selected to offer subsea integration and flow assurance front-end engineering design (FEED) services for the Jansz-lo compression project, offshore Western Australia.

The one-year contract, awarded by Chevron Australia, is effective immediately. It will be delivered by Wood’s team based in Perth, leveraging local expertise and capabilities.

Wood will lead as system integrator of the technology offering independent flow assurance, subsea design and construction engineering support services. The Jansz-lo compression project will utilise subsea compression to improve recovery from the Jansz-Io field and maintain gas supply at the existing Gorgon LNG facility.

Wood Specialist Technical Solutions business CEO Bob MacDonald said: “We are delighted to support Chevron as a local partner in the first Australian project to use subsea compression technology.

“This new contract demonstrates Wood’s experience in Australia’s subsea sector and knowledge of Chevron’s systems and operations on the Jansz-lo and Gorgon infrastructure.

The latest contract extends Wood’s association with Chevron in major capital projects in Australia.

In 2017, the company entered into a global master services agreement with Chevron to deliver conceptual engineering, pre-FEED, FEED detailed design and procurement services to the latter’s global onshore and offshore asset portfolio.

In March 2019, Chevron awarded a contract to Aker Solutions to support the delivery of a subsea compression system for the Jansz-Io field.
