Woodside lets fpso contract for proposed browse nws lng project

Woodside Petroleum Ltd., Perth, has let a contract for the concept definition and engineering of two natural gas floating production, storage, and offtake facilities for its proposed Browse—North West Shelf LNG development off Western Australia.

The engineering services contract will define all elements of the vessels’ hull and topsides for remote-area operations. The work is slated for completion by midyear 2019.

The overall Browse project will develop Brecknock, Calliance, and Torosa gas-condensate fields offshore far northwestern Western Australia. The fields contain a total estimated resource of about 16 tcf of gas and 466 million bbl of condensate.

Woodside’s plan is to use two FPSOs producing about 10-12 million tonnes/year of gas to the North West Shelf infrastructure on the Burrup Peninsula near Karratha via a 900-1,000 km pipeline.

FEED for the project is slated for 2019 with a final investment decision scheduled for 2021. On that basis Calliance and Brecknock would be brought on stream in 2026 and Torosa in 2027.

Interest holders in the Browse development are Woodside, as operator, with 30.6%, Shell 27%, BP 17.33%, Japan’s Mimi 14.4%, and PetroChina 10.67%.
